When You Try to Send a Photo and It Came Back With a Triangle

Hi EvangelDr! My name is Therese, an Independent Advisor.

I suspect that these videos were sent a few months ago.

Videos larger than 100MB will be saved as Files and will be available for 30 days. After 30 days, they will no longer available in your chat and will be deleted in the cloud too.

Nonetheless, this shouldn't be the same case for photos. If I may ask, are you able to view the same photos on a different device?

Unfortunately the photos/video were just sent.  I tried on both, Windows 10 (Surface Book 2) and on Android (Galaxy Note 8).  I get get this same icon on both devices. It looks like it is a video initially in the thumbnail with a Play button in the center. Then I click on it, the loading from 0-100% happens then I get this.

May I know the exact version number of Skype installed on your device? In Skype, tap your profile picture > Settings > Help & Feedback

Also, for testing purposes, can you ask someone to send a file/photo again?

Using a different internet connection would help isolating the issue too.

If it was only happening to me I'd say it's due to the version but its happening to 7 of us in the same group chat. Either way, on the Android it is Skype Version 8.62.76.27. On Windows 10 it is Skype 8.61.76.94 Application 15.61.94.0.

I've tried loading on a metered connection with my phone and on wifi with my pc.

Is this happening to specific files?

Try checking if the same behavior happens on Skype for Web client https://web.skype.com/

This client only supports MS Edge and the latest version of Google Chrome.

Same thing on the web and I also tried checking on a Amazon Kindle and the same thing is happening. I'm guessing its a certain file type from the iPhone that its sending. Maybe Live Photos which Skype doesn't recognize or something?

If this is happening to a specific file format, that is a possibility. The file may not be supported.

If you wish, you can report this by sending a feedback through the application. In Skype, click the 3 dots (...) > Help & Feedback > Give feedback
